Unemployment Compensation
Unemployment can occur to anyone at any time. If you have found yourself recently laid off or fired you may be eligible for unemployment compensation.
Some companies offer severance packages in the occurrence of a lay off, discharge, or forced retirement. These packages may include a salary for a certain amount of time, payment of unused vacation hours, retirement benefits, and/or continued health benefits. If you were promised a severance package at the time of your employment but were not granted these benefits, you may be able to take legal action.
The need for legal advice during a period of unemployment may also occur if you are filing a claim for unemployment with the State. In certain situations, legal advice may be necessary to provide you the income you need to survive.
If your dismissal was caused by a form of discrimination (age, gender, race, or otherwise) further legal action may take place to assure your rights are protected.
